A UPA Tribute was mounted at the first AniMazSpot festival on the Woodbury University campus in Burbank.  It began with a buffet reception in the theater lobby and adjacent outside patio.  The program consisted of two forty minute screenings of UPA classics and rarities, remembered by a panel of UPA veterans, Fred Crippen, Martha Sigall, Ervin Kaplan, and June Foray, and moderated by Adam Abraham, author of When Magoo Flew.  Plus, we showed a video greeting by Tom Terrific creator, and head of UPA-NY, Gene Deitch, from his studio in Prague, which you can see in our Theater, and a second video greeting by Ron Dias, from his studio in northern California.  There were also several rarely seen UPA commercials, including one from Cuba, plus, the Wazir & cute panel of UPA veteransanimals scene from the Magoo feature, and the first showing of the long lost Howdy Doody and his Magic Hat, directed by Gene Deitch and discovered by Jerry Beck.
